“I always dreamt of having my own business. I told my schools career advisor I wanted an ice-cream cart in York Museum Gardens.
Starting a family at a young age, meant I had to fit work around my commitments. I did everything from packaging to retail. I then worked my way up in an insurance firm from the call centre to project managing product development and training. When I realised paperwork and internal politics wasn’t for me, I switched gears. Cue training in events and then running an events-planning business. Plus a shop selling everything from wedding dresses to confetti.
I sold the business and took a career break to concentrate on my family of three boys, husband, a cat and dog! But I continued to help friends and family with business advice. This led to setting up as a business coach, and then ultimately MPWR. Now I’m finally doing what I was always meant to. We aren’t ‘fluffy’ and there’s certainly no pink branding. Instead we offer advice, training and support to grow the businesses and lives we want.”
