Little Black Book: A Toolkit For Working Women by Otegha Uwagba

By Tracy Burleigh

Little Black Book: A Toolkit For Working Women is the modern career guide every creative woman needs, whether you’re just starting out or already have years of experience. Packed with fresh ideas and no-nonsense practical advice, this travel-sized career handbook is guaranteed to become your go-to resource when it comes to building the career you want.

This is a nice little book! No jargon and written simply. Well laid out with loads of bold headings so you can dip in and read a chapter or section.  For those new to business a great guide to keep to hand and for those not new to business, lots of those ‘ah yes I do know that’s something I should be doing’ moments and a few ideas we had not thought about.

We particularly liked the ‘pay yourself first’ quote and the productivity and networking sections and there was so much in here that backs what we see as KEY when it comes to getting your business where you want it.

Something I am reminded of in writing this review was mindfulness and in particular first thing when you wake up.  I’m actually quite good at using methods to get me to sleep of an evening but I recently noticed how I wished I was the sort of person who wakes up feeling refreshed and wide awake.  Tomorrow I am going to try Otegha’s tip and spend a few minutes after I wake up to lay with my eyes closed and simply focus on my breathing.  The whole chapter on looking after number one is fab and I know I will be checking back in on this section often.

Defo one to keep to hand and read while having a cuppa. Loved the double-folded bookmarks too :0) it’s the little things LOL x
