Katy is a mind body coach who – due to her own extensive fertility journey – now specialises in supporting women who are struggling with fertility to ‘stay sane’ as they try to conceive.
Katy talks really openly about her own experience with PMDD (Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and miscarriage. We chat about her earlier career as a carer and how during her career she experienced challenges with stress and her mental health – this inspired her to train in meditation, which led her to train to be a life coach and then on to India to train to be yoga teacher.
She has focussed her work for the last 6 years on working with people with stress. More recently, when she realised she had PMDD and during the Covid lockdowns, she reflected on her business and focus area and is now working with women in a similar position to herself, having experienced multiple miscarriages.
We touch on the taboo subject of miscarriage and how we need to talk about it more. She is really open and courageous to talk about it how she does. We also touch on menstrual cycles, periods. Why is it so taboo and almost shamed? We explore this topic and Katy shares her knowledge around how other cultures celebrate and honour that time of the month and the moon cycle.
Katy ‘leapt’ into running her own business (her words), she chats about the challenging transition from a career in caring to being able to actually charge for her services and being able to charge her worth. She has worked on what success means to her in her business – it’s so crucial to her to ensure she gives good value and looks after people.
